HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The inaugural Stronach 5 was deemed a success by officials from the Stronach Group on Friday after attracting a handle of $157,333 and ultimately producing a payoff of $9,888.30 to the 14 ticket holders who correctly selected the winners of all five events in the sequence. The unique wager, which encompasses races from four Stronach-owned tracks, Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields, features an industry-low 12 percent takeout with a $1 minimum wager. The Stronach 5 winners were Bay of Rocks ($8.20) in the opening leg at Laurel, Streak of Luck ($17) at Santa Anita, Field Trip ($6.20) at Gulfstream, Impecunious ($16) at Golden Gate and S. S. Illuminati ($11) who rounded out the winning combination by narrowly beating out the 99-1 Miss Lotus Flower in the finale back at Gulfstream. “We are happy with the results from the inaugural running of the Stronach 5,” said Tim Ritvo, Chief Operating Officer of the Stronach Group. “Unfortunately, there was a gate scratch in the first leg at Laurel, but to have five races at four tracks in under an hour and attract the handle we did the first week is a good start. We will tweak some things as we move forward.”
