Strike Softly best in Jammed Lovely

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Jockey Todd Kabel won the $151,200 Jammed Lovely Stakes for the third consecutive year aboard Strike Softly Sunday at Woodbine.

Strike Softly rated kindly about three lengths off the lead on the backstretch, as Sugar Swirl set splits of :22.80 and :45.86 in the seven-furlong dash.

Strike Softly loomed into contention on the turn, and overtook London Snow at the eighth pole before drawing away for a three and a quarter-length victory. Seductively finished a length and a quarter back of London Snow in third in the eight-horse field of Ontario-foaled 3-year-old fillies.

"It doesn't matter what you run her on," said Kabel. "She runs hard every time. She's got a big heart."

Strike Softly completed the distance in 1:24.51, and returned $6 as the favorite. She banked $90,000 for her owner/breeder, Sam-Son Farm.
