Street Boss, War Front fillies lead way in Ocala under-tack preview

Nicole Russo|Apr 16, 2022

Fillies by Street Boss and War Front held the fastest times at their respective breeze distances as the weeklong under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training concluded Saturday.

The breeze show for the OBS spring sale, which has 1,231 juveniles in the catalog, ran over seven sessions from last Sunday, April 10 through Saturday. The Street Boss filly blitzed her furlong, the traditional measuring stick for these sales, in 9 3/5 seconds, and a War Front filly worked the bullet quarter in 20 1/5 seconds, both during Monday's second overall session on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack.

The Street Boss filly, consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales, agent, is the first foal out of the Twirling Candy mare Dazzle. The mare is a full sister to Grade 2-placed Exaulted. Last year's Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Aloha West appears on the catalog page, as does Grade 1 winner and sire Ogygian.

The Street Boss filly stood alone ahead of a logjam of 32 horses who tied for the second-fastest time at 9 4/5 seconds. That group included two juveniles by young classic sire Uncle Mo, as well as one from the first crop of his versatile son Mo Town, who is already off the mark with a winner at Keeneland.

Other freshman sires with juveniles working briskly in that group included commercial leader Bolt d’Oro, who has also already sired a winner; Army Mule, with two juveniles in the group; and Accelerate, City of Light, Good Samaritan, and Mor Spirit.

The War Front filly, consigned by agent Eddie Woods, is out of the Candy Ride mare Cinnamon Spice, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Violence. The filly's fourth dam is Triple Tiara winner and champion Sky Beauty, making this the extended family of champions Dayjur and Gold Beauty, Grade 1 winners Maplejinsky, Pine Island, Pleasant Home, Point of Entry, and Tale of Ekati, and other accomplished runners.

Behind the War Front filly, a daughter of Violence held the second-fastest quarter, going in 20 2/5 seconds.
