Streaking Two Seven O adds Dade Park Dash to string
?q=100)
Two Seven O has climbed from humble beginnings in the claiming ranks to become a consistent stakes competitor on multiple surfaces. The gelding scored his fifth consecutive win in his turf debut with a two-length score in the $175,000 Dade Park Dash for 3-year-old turf sprinters on Saturday, which was opening day of Ellis Park's summer season after delays due to the heat. https://www.drf.com/news/big-names-large-purses-ellis-meet-opens
Two Seven O ($12.28), who had Francisco Arrieta in the irons for trainer David Fawkes, sat a nice stalking trip in third as Capovivo was a run-off leader, ahead by more than five lengths through sharp splits of 21.18 seconds for the opening quarter and 43.82 for the half on very firm turf. He was easily reeled-in in the lane, and Two Seven O finished full of run, well clear of favored Trouble Calling, who rallied from fifth of seven to be second.
It was another two lengths to Reb Five in third, followed by Capovivo, Squad Goals, Tiz Mary's Comet, and Spun D M C.
The time for the 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:01.03.
Two Seven O made his first start last September at Churchill Downs for owners Hoolie Racing Stable and Blue Mist Racing, who had purchased him as a yearling, with Whit Beckman the trainer. He was claimed for $30,000 out of his seventh-place finish by trainer Steve Asmussen on behalf of Clark Brewster. Gelded after that start, Two Seven O went on to finish second in another maiden claiming race at Churchill, and then broke his maiden on Nov. 19. He was claimed out of that win for $20,000 by Fawkes, for Aaron Haberman, Victoria Haberman, and Matthew Scull.
Two Seven O followed with a win in a claiming race on Feb. 14 at Oaklawn Park, then stepped up to allowance-optional claiming company for a win on March 28. As he continued to improve his figures, a move into stakes company was next, and he won the Bachelor Stakes on May 1 at Oaklawn.
Two Seven O, by Dialed In, had breezed on the turf at Churchill Downs, but was making his turf debut in the Dade Park Dash. He is out of the Makfi mare Boreale – stakes-placed on turf and synthetic, and dam of Grade 3-placed turf runner Lady Beth.
"David Fawkes and his team have done a great job with this horse," Arrieta said. "Now he's won five in a row. He really likes the grass, and he showed up again today."
