Streaking Daz Lin Dawn to face elders in CTHS Sales Stakes

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The sensational 3-year-old filly Daz Lin Dawn will tackle older fillies for the first time in the fillies division of the CTHS Sales Stakes at Hastings on Friday. The 1 1/16-mile race is restricted to 3- and 4-year-old fillies who passed through a CTHS Sale in British Columbia, Alberta, or Manitoba. It goes as race 3 with five horses entered.
The colts and geldings division, race 5, features the return of Stanz in Command, who hasn’t raced since he won this race last year. It is a more competitive race with seven horses entered. Each division has a purse of $50,000.
Trained by Nancy Betts, Daz Lin Dawn has won all five stakes races for sophomore fillies at the meet, and she carried 126 pounds going 1 1/16 miles in her 3 1/4-length victory over Babys Got Track in the $50,000 Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap on Aug. 7. Under the allowance conditions of the Sales Stakes, she gets in with 115 pounds.
Betts said the Sales Stakes is a prep for the B.C. Oaks here on Sept. 9.

Prior to her strong performance in the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the B.C.-bred daughter of Popular wasn’t that impressive going around three turns the first time this year in the $50,000 Supernaturel Handicap.
In all five of her wins she was ridden by leading rider Richard Hamel.
“Richard said she kind of got lost in the Supernaturel,” said Betts. “She was pretty focused the whole way last time, though. She’s doing great and it was either work her or run her before the Oaks.”
She drew post 2, from where Hamel will likely let her settle into a stalking position behind what should be an honest pace set by C U At Eau Claire.
The main threat to Daz Lin Dawn is Princess Katie, who should be rolling late with Amadeo Perez riding.
The Rob Gilker-trained 4-year-old may have bounced when she finished fourth as the favorite in the $75,000 Pacific Customs Brokers Distaff on Aug. 7. In her previous outing, just her second start this year, she rallied to finish second behind Citizen Kitty in the one-mile Boeing Stakes at Emerald Downs on Aug. 7.
Stanz in Command returns
Trainer Christine Ammann is pleased with the way Stanz in Command is coming up to his first start for her. The five-time stakes winner was previously trained by Charlene Miller.
“The reason for the layoff is that he had a problem with his suspensory,” she said. “He’s really doing well now, and I just hope he is fit enough to go a mile and a sixteenth. We just couldn’t find a race for him before now.”
Stanz in Command will break from post 2 with David Lopez riding.
Lord Vancouver could end up being the favorite. He is coming off a runner-up finish in a $35,000 optional claimer on July 9 and has been training forwardly for trainer Phil Hall.
He was favored in the race last year, and after dueling with Stanz in Command the length of the stretch he came up a nose short.
