Storm forces five tracks to close again

The winter storm that hit the Northeast on Friday continued to pound the region on Saturday, forcing Aqueduct, Laurel, Philadelphia Park, Penn National, and Charles Town to remain closed for a second consecutive day. Charles Town, in West Virginia, also called off its Sunday program due to the storm.

Although it missed the brunt of the winter weather, Beulah Park in Columbus, Ohio, was forced to cancel its program after the muddy racing surface became uneven. A third of an inch of rain had fallen on Friday. The $35,000 Glacial Princess Stakes for 2-year-old Ohio-accredited fillies will be rescheduled.

Saturday's Geisha Handicap at Laurel was canceled for a second straight week. It was originally scheduled to be run Nov. 29, but the Laurel card was canceled that day because of high winds.
