Storm the Court among notable names on Sunday work tab

ARCADIA, Calif. – Storm the Court, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in November, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 at Santa Anita on Sunday in preparation for his 2020 debut next month.

Trainer Peter Eurton plans to start Storm the Court in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes at seven furlongs on Feb. 9. Sunday, Eurton timed Storm the Court galloping out six furlongs in 1:13.40 and said the colt “got a little tired.”

Storm the Court has had five workouts in the last month.

In other notable workouts, Gift Box, the winner of the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes on Dec. 28, worked a half-mile in 47.40 seconds, the fastest of 52 recorded works at the distance. He is a candidate for the $20 million Saudi Cup in Saudi Arabia on Feb. 29 or the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap on March 6.

United, second in the BC Turf on Nov. 2, worked six furlongs in 1:12.20 for his 2020 debut in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes at 1 1/4 miles on turf on Feb. 1.
