Storm chaser Cash pursuing dreams as trainer
Norman “Lynn” Cash is a self-professed storm chaser whose roofing company has been successful enough to allow him to chase his dreams in Thoroughbred racing.
“We operate in Wyoming and Montana,” Cash said. “When hail falls, we’re there.”
Cash, 57, has bred and owned horses on a moderate scale since 2012. He took out his trainer’s license in April, having moved to Kentucky in 2014 with his wife, Lola. A lanky native of New Mexico, Cash has about a dozen horses in his stable and has posted three wins from his first 27 starters, with one win coming in June at Churchill and two already this month at Belterra Park. He also has four seconds and five thirds.
“I wish the win column was a little better, but it’s been a lot of fun just to get as involved as we have,” said Cash.
