Stilleto Boy being sold while at the top of his game

Just as Stilleto Boy has found the best form of his career, his trainer and part-owner, Doug Anderson, is probably losing the gelding.
Anderson on Friday was hauling a horse van with Stilleto Boy aboard from Iowa to Kentucky, where Stilleto Boy will be sold Monday at Fasig-Tipton’s horses of racing age sale July 12.
Stilleto Boy won the Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows last Friday by more than four lengths, earning a career-best 95 Beyer Speed Figure.
“The horse is fine and everything,” said Anderson. “A partner kind of messed us around somewhat, and me and another gentleman don’t want anything more to do with him. I hate to lose the horse. We’ll try to see with whoever buys him if we can’t stay in on him. It’s a bad deal.”

Stilleto Boy, by Shackleford out of Rosie’s Ransom, just missed beating Indiana Derby winner Mr. Wireless in an Oaklawn maiden race, then won a race like that himself before finishing fourth in the Prairie Mile. In the Iowa Derby he went straight to the lead and never was challenged.
“He was real green-broke when we got him as a yearling, hard to deal with and everything,” Anderson said. “He was a stud colt and we finally [gelded] him, and last summer he started changing his ways and came around late last year.
“We gave him time and he really came to hand at Oaklawn this year, and since then he’s been a pleasure to be around. I sure hate to give a horse to someone else just when he’s starting to get good.”
