Still sore from last weekend, Lewis points Warren's Showtime to China Doll Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. – Warren’s Showtime rumbled along the rail in early stretch of the $202,000 California Cup Oaks for 3-year-old statebred fillies on turf at Santa Anita last Saturday and won by 3 1/2 lengths.
She will run next in the $75,000 China Doll Stakes against open company at a mile on turf on March 7, trainer Craig Lewis said.
Lewis was resting at home on Monday morning, still a bit sore after saddling a fractious Warren’s Showtime before the Cal Cup Oaks.
“She knocked the hell out of me,” he said. “She’s kind of difficult to saddle. She’s kind of a tough filly.”
Owned by Ben and Sally Warren, Warren’s Showtime has won 3 of 6 starts and earned $236,271. The California Cup Oaks was her second stakes win, preceded by a victory against open company in the Surfer Girl Stakes here in October. Both stakes wins came at a mile.
While Warren’s Showtime had her richest payday in the California Cup Oaks, earning $110,000, Lewis rates the Surfer Girl Stakes as Warren’s Showtime’s most impressive race.
“I thought her race against open company was pretty good,” he said. “She has a good explosive turn of foot.”
