Stidham plans to stable 10 horses at Saratoga

Trainer Mike Stidham will have a 10-horse string at Saratoga this summer, a new satellite stable for the Arlington-based operation.
“We’ve run at Saratoga but never stabled there,” Stidham said. “We’re not going to Del Mar this summer. We have four or five New York-breds to run, some 2-year-olds, and some turf horses we’re thinking about.”
One of those turf horses could be the 4-year-old filly Zipessa, who scored a front-running, two-length win in the Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial on Monday at Parx Racing, equaling her career-best 94 Beyer Speed Figure.
“I think she liked being out there in control of the race,” Stidham said. “The way she ran, I think going a little farther, where she is the speed of the race and can control it, might fit her best.”
Stidham also said the sharp Arlington 2-year-old maiden winner Forest Circle will run July 23 in the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine.
◗Trainer Roger Brueggemann brought more than 30 horses to Arlington last week from the Churchill Downs Training Center and, with unraced 2-year-olds on the way, will have close to 40 horses at Arlington for the rest of the meet for Midwest Thoroughbreds.
“Roger moved everything after the end of the Churchill meet,” said Midwest principal Rich Papiese. “Our intention is to run there, though we’ll ship other places when we have to.”
