Sterling, Reavis remain red hot

Jockey Larry Sterling Jr. and trainer Michael Reavis extended their Hawthorne winning streaks to 16 days on Saturday by combining to win the ninth race with Big Stew, who paid $3.20. Sterling and Reavis have won at least one race a day since the Hawthorne meet opened March 1.

Big Stew's victory came a day after Sterling and Reavis dominated the Friday card. Sterling won with four of his seven Friday mounts, including three straight for trainer Reavis. They teamed to win the second race with Rainy Day Rules ($5.20), the third with Takenbythesky ($5.40), and the fourth with Persuasive Lady ($5.20). Sterling later won the eighth with My Beau Mister Joe ($16.80) for trainer Jimmy Wiser.
