Stellar Wind works, will travel Sunday

ARCADIA, Calif. – Stellar Wind, the dominant 3-year-old filly in Southern California, worked six furlongs in 1:12.80 at Santa Anita on Friday in advance of the $1 million Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 1.
Victor Espinoza was aboard Stellar Wind, who won the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes on Feb. 28 and the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks on April 4.
“It was an ‘A’ work,” trainer John Sadler said.
Owned by Pete and Kosta Hronis, Stellar Wind has won 3 of 4 starts and earned $327,200. She began her career in Maryland, where she beat maidens last December. Following that race, Stellar Wind was purchased privately by Hronis Racing.
Sadler said that Stellar Wind is scheduled to be flown to Churchill Downs on Sunday with group that includes Kentucky Derby hopefuls Bolo, Dortmund and Firing Line, and the 4-year-old Bayern, who has not raced since winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic here last November. Bayern is a candidate for the $500,000 Churchill Downs Stakes at seven furlongs on May 2.
