Stellar Wind has first official breeze of year

ARCADIA, Calif. – Stellar Wind, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2015, had her first official workout of the year at Santa Anita on Saturday, exercising three furlongs in 37.40 seconds.
Trainer John Sadler said he hopes to have Stellar Wind ready for the $400,000 Vanity Mile for fillies and mares June 4.
Stellar Wind has not raced since finishing a game second by a neck to Stopchargingmaria in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Keeneland last October. Stellar Wind resumed training with Sadler earlier this year. She had a quarter-mile breeze down the stretch last weekend, Sadler said.
“This was her first recognized work,” Sadler said. “She’ll be on the tab every Saturday. I wanted to get her on a weekend pattern since she’ll be running on weekends.”
Owned by Pete and Kosta Hronis, Stellar Wind, by Curlin, has won 5 of 8 starts and earned $913,200. In 2015, she won four stakes, including the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks.
