Stay Fantastic tries to carry win streak over to new season

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Stay Fantastic will try to take off where he left off last year when he runs in a $30,000 open allowance race for 3-year-olds and up on Monday at Hastings. The 6 1/2-furlong dash drew six horses and goes as race 5 on the seven-race card, which begins at 5 p.m. Pacific.
Trained by Christine Ammann, Stay Fantastic did stay fantastic in 2020, winning all five of his starts including the $50,000 S.W. Randall Plate on Oct. 1. He won the 1 1/16-mile race by three lengths over Coulterberry, with Five Star General checking in third as the odds-on favorite. Coulterberry and Five Star General are the main threats to Stay Fantastic on Monday.

Stay Fantastic began his streak with a victory over The Chances R in a $20,000 conditioned claimer on July 20 and just kept rolling, culminating with his first stakes win in the Randall.
He will break from post 4 with Amadeo Perez riding.
To say Coulterberry runs well fresh would be a bit of an understatement. He won his debut in 2016 and, following the traditional winter layoff, he won his initial start at the meet the next four years. In his first outing of 2020, Coulterberry rallied to win the $50,000 Lieutenant Governor’s on Aug. 6.
Trained by Mark Cloutier, Coulterberry will break from the rail with Scott Williams riding.
Tuesday’s Hastings feature drew nine horses, and is a copy of Monday’s feature except it being restricted to fillies and mares. Notably missing is Here’s Hannah. The John Morrison-trained daughter of Numaany won the Sovereign Award for champion older filly or mare in Canada in 2019 and led her division at Hastings each year since she began her career as a 2-year-old in 2017.
“She popped a splint, so she had to miss some training,” Morrison said. “She’s fine and training well. Hopefully, we can get her back to the races soon.”
Trainer Barbara Heads is looking for a strong performance from Infinite Patience, who will be making her first start since she finished sixth in the $250,000 Bison City on Sept. 12 at Woodbine.
Infinite Patience was the horse of the year in British Columbia as a 2-year-old in 2019, but went winless in three starts last year, all on Tapeta at Woodbine. Her best outing was a third-place finish in the $125,000 Fury in her initial start of the year on July 5.

“She’s training very well, and she is acting like her old self, so I expect her to run a big race,” Heads said.
Antonio Reyes will be aboard when she breaks from post 4.
The Glen Todd-owned and -trained She’s Divine is coming off a 5 1/4-length romp going a mile in a first-level allowance race with a $25,000 claiming option on April 22 at Oaklawn Park. With Michael Puhich acting as his trainer, Todd claimed She’s Divine out of a $16,000 starter race with a $30,000 claiming option on Feb. 25 at Oaklawn.
Her bullet four-furlong work in 45.40 seconds here May 9 suggests she handled the long ship from Hot Springs, Ark., well. She’s Divine will break from post 5 with Scott Williams riding.
With a hot and contested pace expected, the race could set up nicely for the Princess of Cairo, who should be rolling late with Efren Hernandez riding for Todd.
