Startwithsilver should get ideal setup in Correction

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Linda Rice will be favored to win her second straight $100,000 Correction Stakes on Saturday at Aqueduct. Now, it’s up to handicappers to decipher which of the four fillies and mares she entered in the six-horse field is the right one.
Rice won this six-furlong race last year with Sounds Delicious, a 9-2 shot, who went coast to coast while Startwithsilver could only manage a third-place finish as the 8-5 favorite after an extremely wide trip.
This year, Sounds Delicious could vie for favoritism with stablemate Sower, while Startwithsilver could offer some value based on her ugly-looking form.

Startwithsilver finished her 2018 campaign with a last-place finish in the Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park last June. Rice has said that Startwithsilver bled in that race.
Startwithsilver was given time off and, in the interim, was transferred to trainer Jonathan Thomas by owner Sheila Rosenblum. Startwithsilver didn’t make a start for Thomas. The filly was sent back to Rice, who ran her off an eight-month layoff Feb. 16 in the Broadway Stakes, where she finished fifth of eight.
“She was only 80 percent ready,” Rice said. “She’s ready to run this time coming off a couple of nice breezes and having had a race.”
The Correction should certainly set up for Startwithsilver. Sower, Sounds Delicious, Yorkiepoo Princess, and Filibustin all seem to want to be on or near the lead, while Startwithsilver and Honor Way, Rice’s fourth entrant, do their best running late.
Rice is not certain to run Honor Way.
The Correction could be the final start for Yorkiepoo Princess, a four-time stakes winner and earner of $460,827. Trainer Ed Barker noted that the 5-year-old mare does her best running in the cooler months and at Aqueduct.
Barker said that Yorkiepoo Princess was in heat around the time of her last race, the Jan. 25 Interborough Stakes, where she finished fifth of eight.
“I expect her to run big, I really do,” Barker said.
The Correction goes as race 3 on a nine-race card that begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.
