Stanz in Command sharp in return

Trainer Charlene Miller was pleased with how Stanz in Command came out of his win in the $50,000 Jim Coleman Province last Sunday at Hastings. It was his first start since he finished fourth in the $75,000 Ascot Graduation last October, when he stretched out to 1 1/16 miles for the first time.
He won two of his four starts as a 2-year-old last year and is undefeated on fast tracks. He also finished second in the $100,000 Jack Diamond Futurity.
Partly because he wasn’t that impressive working this spring, Stanz in Command paid a generous $12.80 for his quarter-length win over Crazy Prophet.
“He ran an awesome race,” said Miller. “He was training well, but he just won’t put out in the mornings when he works.”
Stanz in Command had one horse beat at the top of the stretch before unleashing a strong move to win the Coleman going away. As for the future, Miller is confident that Stanz in Command will be able to handle a middle distance.
“He just didn’t like the sloppy track in the Ascot,” she said.
