Stan the Man will try to rebound in Stymie

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Stan the Man, who finished last behind Mr. Buff in the Jazil Stakes on Jan. 25, will seek to rebound in Saturday’s $125,000 Stymie Stakes at Aqueduct.
Trainer John Terranova doesn’t have a real excuse for Stan the Man’s virtual no-show effort in the Jazil, other than deducing that he didn’t care for the deep, sloppy Aqueduct main track. Stan the Man had run well over wet surfaces in the past.

“It was a really tiring track and they were going a little quick,” Terranova said.
While Mr. Buff won’t be in the field, Stan the Man will have to contend with Wicked Trick, winner of six straight, and Diamond King, the runner-up in last year’s $1 million Charles Town Classic.
On Monday, Wicked Trick put in a sharp five-furlong workout in 1:00.45 while galloping out six furlongs in 1:12.70.
Others pointing to the Stymie include American Anthem, Backsideofthemoon, Joevia and potentially Monongahela or Grumps Little Tots.
