Stall won't put blinkers on Forevamo – yet

NEW ORLEANS – Forevamo did everything right in his Feb. 17 comeback from a six-month layoff – except win.
Pressing the pace in a two-turn, second-level dirt allowance, Forevamo roared up to the lead at the top of the stretch, then waited on rivals and was nipped on the wire by Egyptian.
“Believe me, he wasn’t tired,” trainer Al Stall said Thursday. “He was kicking and squealing back at the barn an hour later. He almost dropped his rider this morning.”
Stall, though, is not getting greedy with a 4-year-old whose best races last year were a second to Gun Runner in the Risen Star and a second to Sharp Azteca in the Pat Day Mile. He said he would bring Forevamo back in another allowance race either at Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, or Keeneland. He also said he would not add blinkers despite Forevamo idling in the stretch. “I’m going to give him another try without them,” Stall said.
