Stakes-winning English filly joins Sadler barn
ARCADIA, Calif. – Ginger Nut, a 2-year-old filly who has won three of her last four starts, was recently bought by brothers Pete and Kosta Hronis and is scheduled to arrive in California from England this week, trainer John Sadler said.
Ginger Nut is not expected to start in the immediate future, Sadler said. By Sir Prancealot, Ginger Nut has won 3 of 8 starts, including the $319,715 Weatherbys Super Sprint for 2-year-olds on July 21 at Newbury Racecourse. The race drew 25 runners.
Ginger Nut was trained in England by Richard Hannon Jr. After the five-furlong Weatherbys Super Sprint, Ginger Nut was second and then first in minor handicaps at Newmarket and York.
Sadler did not state any race goals for Ginger Nut, although the Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at a mile on turf Nov. 24 at Del Mar could come under consideration.
Hronis Racing has had an outstanding year. It has two leading contenders for Breeders’ Cup races Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs with Accelerate in the Classic and Catalina Cruiser in the Dirt Mile.
