Stakes winners Thirty Thou Kelvin and Forever Dixie will launch their 4-year-old seasons Sunday in the eighth race at Gulfstream Park.
The fillies meet in a conditioned allowance over 1 1/16 miles on turf. The field of nine fillies and mares includes fellow stakes winner Bramble Bay.
Thirty Thou Kelvin and Forever Dixie bring opposing running styles to the table. Thirty Thou Kelvin set the pace and prevailed in the $250,000 Virginia Oaks in her 3-year-old finale in September at Colonial Downs. Forever Dixie stalked the pace en route to capturing the $125,000 Ontario Damsel in October at Woodbine.

Thirty Thou Kelvin has been working at Gulfstream for her return. She owns the field’s co-highest last-race turf Beyer Speed Figure, an 82 shared with Perhaps Tonight. Thirty Thou Kelvin is seeking her third straight win. Emisael Jaramillo has the mount from post 3 for trainer Kathleen O’Connell.
Forever Dixie raced one more time following the Ontario Damsel last year and was sixth against males in the Grade 3 Ontario Derby in her season finale Oct. 27. The start came on a synthetic track, and she’s moving back to turf. Forever Dixie worked on the grass April 12, going a sharp half-mile in 47.60 seconds at Palm Meadows. Patrick Husbands has the mount from post 8 for trainer Mark Casse, who wins at an above average rate with runners returning from layoffs of 180 days or more, according to statistics from Daily Racing Form. Forever Dixie is from the mare Dixie Strike, a millionaire who won the Prince of Wales Stakes.
Bramble Bay has recency on her fellow stakes winners as she last raced Feb. 21. She ran second in a $35,000 claiming route that was moved from turf to Tapeta and was claimed out of the race by M and W Stables and trainer Kelly Breen.
Bramble Bay, who tends to stalk the pace, was making her first start since November last time. She figures to benefit if the race remains on the turf Sunday as all eight of her career wins have come on the grass. Paco Lopez has the mount from post 2.
Sugar Fix, who won the Claiming Crown Tiara at this distance on turf at Gulfstream in December 2021, is moving back to two turns off a fifth-place finish in a five-furlong allowance sprint Feb. 9 at Gulfstream.
Starship Agenda is arguably the best bred runner in the field. The daughter of Always Dreaming is a half-sister to Florida Derby winner Known Agenda, with both runners out of the Grade 1-winning mare Byrama.
Starship Agenda shows a strong five-eighths work in preparation for her first start since January. She went the distance in 1:00.60 on April 13 at Gulfstream. Chris Landeros has the mount from post 6 for trainer Steve Dwoskin.
Lady Arsinoe owns a series of Beyer Speed Figures that stack up favorably against these, with the numbers consistent whether she races on turf or Tapeta. Joe Bravo has the mount from post 9 for trainer Bill Mott.
Riding Pretty ran third in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks last July.
