Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Arabians, Appaloosas, and Paints will take part in stakes during closing weekend of this session. On Saturday, Quarter Horses will compete in the finals of the Grade 2, $62,000 Mile High Derby at 400 yards; Thoroughbreds will meet in the $25,000 Spicy Handicap at 1 1/16 miles; and Arabians will run in the $20,000 Soaring Eagle Distaff at 1 1/16 miles. Sunday's card includes the finals of the Grade 2, $114,000 Mile High Futurity for Quarter Horses at 400 yards; the $15,000 Harvest Cup Futurity at 350 yards for Paints and Appaloosas; and the $20,000 Rocky Mountain Arabian Cup at 1 1/8 miles. Thoroughbreds will close out the stakes action in the $30,000 Gold Rush Futurity at six furlongs. o Trainer Jim Kerr capped off his best day of the year here last Saturday with a hard-fought victory in the $22,000 colts and gelding division of the CTBA Stallion Stakes. Kerr-trained runners finished one-two in the race, as The Latest Twist prevailed by a neck over Mile High Twist. Earlier on the nine-race card, Kerr won the second race with I Know Perks and the sixth with Blaze of Finesse.
