St. Lewis to run maiden winner Informative in Gotham

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The Parx-based trainer Uriah St. Lewis on Friday was hoping for a big week in New York.
On Saturday, he runs Adventist in the $100,000 Bernardini Stakes. Next Saturday, he plans to run Informative in the Grade 3, $300,000 Gotham Stakes for 3-year-olds.
It took Informative eight tries to get his first win, and that victory came going a mile at Aqueduct on Feb. 8. The Gotham is also run at a mile at Aqueduct.

St. Lewis said he thought Informative would benefit from more distance, but he did start him six times at six furlongs or shorter. He finally stretched him out in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes, where he finished fourth, 10 1/2 lengths behind Shotski.
In his maiden win, Informative overcame a bobble at the break and some traffic in the stretch. Informative worked a half-mile in 48.05 seconds Thursday morning at Parx.
“He has a lot of ability, he’s a smart horse, and he just keeps getting better,” said St. Lewis, who has John Bisono to ride.
Meanwhile, St. Lewis said he is preparing the 7-year-old Discreet Lover, the 45-1 winner of the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup in 2018, for a return to the races.
Discreet Lover has worked three times at Parx in February.
“We’re just taking our time with him and we’ll try to find him a couple of allowance races where he could win,” St. Lewis said. “He’s coming along pretty good. We have no timetable for him.”
