Sprint and a turf marathon close out week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Back-to-back allowances will highlight a 10-race card that brings the first five-day week of the 24-day Churchill fall meet to an end Sunday.
Race 8 is an $87,000, first-level sprint that marks the first start in nearly seven months for Answer In, who already is stakes-placed twice for trainer Brad Cox. The 3-year-old Dialed In gelding will face seven others, including Violent City, a promising Ian Wilkes-trained 3-year-old also returning from a lengthy absence.
Race 9 is an $89,000, second-level race that will be limited to eight fillies and mares going the three-turn distance of 1 3/8 miles over the turf. Delta’s Kingdom and Romantic Pursuit figure among the lukewarm favorites when exiting the same Oct. 8 race at Keeneland.

The forecast calls for dry conditions and a high of 52.
After Sunday, Churchill goes dark for two days. Live racing will be hosted here Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday of next week, with simulcasting of the Breeders’ Cup from Keeneland available to fans Friday and Saturday.
