Spring snow closes several tracks

Philadelphia Park canceled its live card on Monday after an early-spring snowstorm dropped as much as three inches of snow in the area.

Philadelphia Park was the only track on Monday that canceled its races because of the storm, which was concentrated in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut area. Suffolk Downs outside of Boston conducted its card as scheduled despite some precipitation, and the storm was too far north to affect tracks in West Virginia.

Before arriving in the Northeast, the storm had caused cancellations at Fonner Park in Nebraska and Woodbine Race Course in Toronto on Sunday. Woodbine also canceled its Friday card because of bad weather.

On Saturday, Suffolk canceled because of heavy rains, and Fairmount Park outside St. Louis also canceled because of bad weather.
