Sportsman's to add place pick nine

A place pick nine will be introduced at Sportsman's Park when its meet opens March 1. The bet requires one to pick the winner or runner-up in nine consecutive races. The minimum bet is $1, and the takeout will be 25 percent.

Seventy-five percent of the pool will go to bettors who pick the winner or place horse in all nine races, with 25 percent going as a consolation for picking the first- or second-place finishers in the second-greatest number of races. If no winning tickets are sold, 25 percent of the pool goes to consolation winners and 75 percent is carried over to the next racing day.
