Speightster returns to roots to stand in Canada

Grade 3 winner Speightster, who hails from one of Canada's most successful families, will return to those roots to continue his stud career, as he has been purchased by Jay and Christine Hayden’s Saintsbury Farms to stand at Northern Dawn Stables in Hillsburgh, Ontario.
Speightster, a 10-year-old son of champion sprinter and successful sire Speightstown, stood his first five seasons at WinStar Farm in Kentucky. The stallion, who will stand for $6,500 in Canadian funds, is the sire of a pair of stakes winners at Woodbine in Dreaming of Drew, winner of 2020 Princess Elizabeth, and Aubrieta, who won the 2021 Glorious Song. Speightster is also the sire of Grade 3-placed Tough to Tame and black-type winners Door Buster, Tantrum, and That Kenney Kid.
Speightster, a WinStar homebred, won three of four starts, including the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park. He is out of the unraced Danzig mare Dance Swiftly, a full sister to Canadian Triple Crown winner and champion Dance Smartly, a blue hen who produced two winners of the Queen's Plate, among other standouts. Dance Swiftly has also been a solid producer, with nine winners from 11 starters including stakes winners Paiota Falls and West Coast Swing.
Dance Smartly, herself out of Canadian champion Classy 'n Smart, was a full sister to multiple leading sire Smart Strike.
