PHOENIX, Ariz. – The invader Outdated ($9.60) used his speed to prove easily best in Saturday’s $35,000 Lost in the Fog Juvenile at Turf Paradise.

Owned by Charles Garvey and TG Racing LLC and trained by Robertino Diodoro, the 2-year-old son of Old Fashioned won his debut at Canterbury Downs, ran ninth in a stakes at Santa Anita and was second in an allowance race at Zia Park before shipping here.

Under Jorge Carreno, he dogged pacesetter Shakin Schiller early in the 6 1/2-furlong event for 2-year-olds, had no trouble taking over from that tiring rival turning for home, and opened up through the lane to win comfortably by 4 3/4 lengths. Highway Boss lagged back and finished well to be second while Grand Full Moon, the 4-5 favorite, sat back and rallied wide for third. Solomon, the second choice in the wagering, stalked in third before tiring to finish fifth in the field of eight.

Outdated was the third choice in the wagering. He ran the distance in 1:15.47, and the winner’s share of $21,049 gives him earnings of $42,999 from two wins in four starts.

Freakin Amazing speeds by competition

Despite a slow start, Freakin Amazing’s ($6.40) speed ruled the day as the SoCal invader gamely prevailed in the $35,000 Arizona Juvenile Fillies.

Owned by Mercedes LLC and trained by Diodoro (giving him a sweep of the two stakes on the card), she broke last in the field of nine but had the speed to rush up and grab the early lead in the 6 1/2-furlong event under Geovanni Franco.

She dueled with New Mexico raider and 9-10 favorite Perfect Style early, dispatched with that foe on the far turn, was challenged by S U M Racer, but repelled her bid, and drew away late to win by 2 1/2 lengths. S U M Racer stayed on well for second, while Perfect Style chased gamely for third.

As the 2-1 second choice, Freakin Amazing ran the distance in 1:16.05. The winner’s share of $20,832 gives her earnings of $48,832 from two wins in three starts.
