Girl Trouble will try to stay clear of trouble in Laurel Park’s $125,000 Weber City Miss for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles. The Weber City Miss is one of four stakes on the Saturday program, topped by the Federico Tesio for 3-year-olds. The other supporting stakes are the $100,000 Frank Y. Whiteley Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at seven furlongs and the $100,000 Heavenly Cause for fillies and mares at one mile. The winner of the Weber City Miss receives an entry into the Grade 2, $300,000 Black-Eyed Susan on May 19 at Pimlico. A winner of two stakes sprinting, Girl Trouble is 0 for 2 routing. She caught a muddy track when third in the one-mile White Clay Creek on Oct. 14 at Delaware, then had traffic trouble when third at odds-on in last month’s Main Line going a mile and 70 yards at Parx Racing. :: Take your handicapping to the next level and play with FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic.  Expected to be the controlling speed in the Main Line, Girl Trouble was rated by Paco Lopez, then split horses while in tight in midstretch. “It was a very difficult trip,” trainer Butch Reid said that afternoon. “Paco even apologized for it.” Reid expects Girl Trouble to be forwardly placed in the Weber City Miss. Crypto Mama finished ahead of Girl Trouble in second in the White Clay Creek and prepped for the Weber City Miss with a victory against first-level allowance runners on March 10 at Laurel. Like Girl Trouble, she likes to race close to the lead. So does Pharoahs Baby Gyal, one of two fillies entered by trainer Brittany Russell along with Cats Inthe Timber. A gate-to-wire winner of a first-level allowance on Jan. 13 at Laurel, her last start, Pharoahs Baby Gyal was scratched out of last month’s Beyond the Wire. “I think going long, especially with all this time in between, she’s going to be forward,” Russell told track publicity. Cats Inthe Timber will rally from midpack. Fourth last month at Laurel in the slow-paced Beyond the Wire, won by favored Lady Lowery, she should get faster fractions to attack in the Weber City Miss. Cynergy’s Electra, Ginger Girl, and Six the Hard Way complete the field Frank Y. Whiteley Stakes Millionaires Bankit and Eastern Bay square off with several other quality sprinters in an excellent renewal of the Frank Y. Whiteley. Trained by Steve Asmussen, Bankit has won at least one stakes in each of the past five seasons. He finished third and second in his two starts this year, both in New York-bred stakes at Aqueduct. “He’s a horse that is always there and always tries hard, even when he’s in too tough,” said Asmussen’s New York-based assistant, Toby Sheets. “He’s our little monster up here.” Eastern Bay, claimed for $35,000 by trainer Lynn Cash out of a win last spring, ran second at Aqueduct last October in the Grade 2 Vosburgh and Grade 3 Bold Ruler. He won the Grade 3 General George over this track and distance in February in his first start this year. Eastern Bay was fourth in Aqueduct’s Grade 3 Tom Fool on March 4, and third with traffic trouble in the stretch in the restricted Not For Love on March 18 at Laurel. Factor It In has won 5 of 9, including three Laurel stakes, since returning from a 290-day layoff last July. Factor It In has won three of his last four, including two sprint stakes at Laurel. “The time off helped a lot,” trainer Carlos Mancilla said. “I was just going to give him two or three months, and he stayed for 10.” Informative, a multiple Grade 3 winner, returns from a 196-day layoff after finishing fourth behind Life Is Good in the Grade 1 Woodward. Also in the field are multiple stakes winners Kenny Had a Notion and Alwaysinahurry; Grade 3-placed Yodel E. A. Who; multiple stakes-placed Al Loves Josie; and stakes-winner Hello Hot Rod. Purchased at auction for $107,000 last summer by Stuart Grant’s The Elkstone Group, Heavenly Cause has won three stakes since being transferred to Russell, including a 2 1/4-length victory in the Nellie Morse on Feb. 18 at Laurel in her last start. Overall, she has captured 5 of 7 starts at Laurel. Hybrid Eclipse will likely face her toughest challenge from Pass the Champagne, who finished second to eventual champion Malathaat in the Grade 1 Ashland in 2021. She raced only once in 2022 and twice this year, finishing fourth as the favorite in the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie on Feb. 18 at Laurel in her last start. Pass the Champagne was scratched from Aqueduct’s Grade 3 Distaff Handicap on April 7. Beth’s Dream was well behind runner-up Pass the Champagne when third in the Wayward Lass on Jan. 14 at Tampa, and rebounded to dominate an allowance group on March 17 at Gulfstream. Completing the field are Jump Into the Fire, Deco Strong, Hashtag Lucky, Award Wanted, Mavilus, and Moma Tiger. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
