Special Edition: Juvenile Market Preview

The North American 2-year-old sales season, formally running from March to June, is an anticipated precursor to the season’s juvenile races, including star-making Grade 1 action at the boutique summer meetings at Del Mar and Saratoga. This season will look to find some equilibrium without a cloud looming over it.
Although the global coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing, progress has been made in the fight against the virus, with multiple vaccines now approved for use and sales and bloodstock companies learning to conduct business in the new world. Additionally, last year’s sale season grappled with the virus in a much more dramatic way, as the season coincided with the initial wave of COVID-19 cases in the U.S., leading to the cancellation or postponement of several major sales.
Our annual special edition takes a look at this season's scheduled 2-year-old sales at Fasig-Tipton, the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co., and other companies, looks at the prospects for first-season stallions including champions Arrogate, Gun Runner, and Classic Empire, and more.
