Coady Photography/Evangeline Downs Special Blessing and jockey Roberto Morales win the Evangeline Downs Distaff by 6 1/2 lengths on Friday.
Special Blessing rolled to a 6 1/2-length win over Tap Dance Star in the $75,000 Evangeline Downs Distaff on Friday night. It was another neck back in third to Hyper Piper.
The Evangeline Distaff was a one-mile race for fillies and mares bred in Louisiana
Special Blessing ($20.80) took the field through an opening quarter in 24.04 seconds and a half-mile in 47.76, pushed along by Hyper Piper. Special Blessing continued to lead through six furlongs in 1:12.43 before going on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:37.58.
Roberto Morales was aboard for trainer Bret Calhoun.
Special Blessing is a daughter of Flat Out who races for Coteau Grove Farms. She has now won 5 of 12 starts and earned $209,030.
