Analysis:
SHERIF sold for 20 times the stud fee of sire Harlans Holiday at last years Keeneland September yearling sale, and trainer Dale Romans already has a debut winner at the meet. He may appreciate a bit more ground down the road, but its nice to see John Velazquez take the mount, and Sherif should offer some value.
Nick Zito has sent out some live firsters at this meet, and the nicely bred HES SOLID GOLD looks like a nice fit in this spot. That July 30 bullet workout looks very, very good. IN ORBIT was no match for stakes-bound Sargent Seattle in lone start over the track. He may show improved speed today.
SHOTTEN HEIMER was overmatched in the Sanford, and has the speed to be a strong pace factor. HI CHRIS has some blacktype in his pedigree, but may ultimately do his best running on grass. BRITISH COLUMBIA sold very well earlier this year, but the recent workouts only give mixed feelings. CAVES VALLEY goes out for sharp debut trainer, but there is a gap between the July 18 and August 4 workout to consider

Analysis:
Neil Howard is having a nice meet, and HIDDEN GLANCE is the first foal out of Vodafone Oaks winner Casual Look. There is plenty of turf pedigree here, and the son of Kingmambo shows some solid five-furlong workouts in preparation for his career debut.
WOODWAY is stuck on the also-eligible list, and may be considered the other Pletcher with John Velazquez scheduled to ride RANCHO SANTA FE, but the $200,000 yearling purchase showed good speed sprinting at Churchill Downs, and has picked up the pace in his recent workouts at Churchill. Hell show speed if he gets to play. Bill Mott has done little wrong at the meet, and PRUSSIAN owns a beautiful turf pedigree. There are gaps in the worktab, but he worked a bullet out of the gate at Keeneland, and should have some ability.
COSMIC also has a strong pedigree as a half to Good Reward out of Heavenly Prize. Hell catch a tough outside post if he breaks in from the AE list. COZZENES DESTINY shows some strong workouts, and is bred to appreciate todays route distance. NOREASTERNER finished ahead of a couple of these for strong barn in first turf try, but must avoid a wide trip. GUNSMOKE may show more focus and early speed with the addition of blinkers. RANCHO SANTA FE took all the money for his debut, but he only finished evenly after a wide trip.
