Sovereign voting starts Nov. 29

Voting for the Sovereign Awards for the best in Canadian Thoroughbred racing and breeding will open at 9 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Nov. 29, the Jockey Club of Canada announced Tuesday. Eligible voters must cast their ballots online by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4.

To be eligible for consideration, horses must have made at least three starts in Canada this year by Nov. 26.

Three finalists in each of 14 divisional categories, with the exception of horse of the year, will be announced Thursday, Dec. 7.

Canada's horse of the year and the other divisional winners will be revealed Dec 16.

The deadline for submissions to the four Sovereign Award media categories - newspaper article; feature story; film, video, or broadcast; and photograph - is 5 p.m. Eastern on Oct. 31.

Submissions must be of Canadian Thoroughbred racing or breeding content and have been published or broadcast between Nov. 1, 2005, and Oct. 31, 2006.
