ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Odds-on favorites Souper Supreme and Dewolf swept both $100,000 Ontario-sired stakes for 2-year-olds on Sunday’s Woodbine card.
Souper Supreme showed an affinity for the grass with an easy score over her Mark Casse-trained stablemate Ella It Is in the Victorian Queen for fillies.
Souper Supreme, who took the Aug. 25 Muskoka Stakes on the Tapeta, also won the Victorian Queen in front-running style. She covered the seven furlongs in 1:22.16 while winning by 2 1/4 lengths under a hand ride from Patrick Husbands.
Skylight Caper closed belatedly to finish two lengths behind Ella It Is in third. I Love to Win, Serious Green, Princess Rosina and Misty Point completed the order of finish.
“She’s by Souper Speedy and those horses love the turf,” Husbands said. “Even though she’d never been on the turf, she showed you in the morning that she’s legit. She’s all class.”

Souper Supreme ($3.30) won $60,000 for Gary Barber and Michael Langlois, the same partnership that owns her champion half-brother, 2023 King’s Plate victor Paramount Prince.
Dewolf stalked the leading Unbridled Weather through the turn and then wore him down in the stretch to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths in the Bull Page for colts and geldings. The final time for the seven furlongs on the main turf was 1:21.49.
Shadow Realm checked in third and was followed by Kekoa, Awesome Rainbow, Magic Power, Ride for the Purse and Shinigami.
Rafael Hernandez rode Dewolf for trainer Kevin Attard, who had cross-entered and scratched the son of Silent Name from Saturday’s Grade 1 Summer.
“He’s a Canadian-bred, Ontario-sired, and we want to gear towards some of the Canadian-bred races in the fall,” Attard said. “We thought we’d keep it simple for him right now, trying to give him some more confidence. Donato Lani picked him out as a yearling and really wanted him. He’s proven to be a good acquisition.”
Dewolf ($3.80) collected $60,000 for the partnership of X-Men Racing IV, Canuck Racing Club, Madaket Stables and SF Racing.
