ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Souper Stonehenge ($2.70) outran a troubled Pink Lloyd to win his second straight Grade 3 stakes at Woodbine in Sunday’s $159,300 Vigil. Souper Stonehenge, who defeated Pink Lloyd in the June 20 Jacques Cartier Stakes, set soft fractions on an uncontested lead in the six-furlong sprint, with Not So Quiet stalking in second. Pink Lloyd was bottled up in traffic along the rail on the turn near the rear of the six-horse field. He mounted a strong stretch rally after getting into the clear, but his bid came up three-quarters of a length short of Souper Stonehenge, who covered the distance in 1:09.52. Patrick Husbands rode the Mark Casse-trained Souper Stonehenge, who banked $90,000 for last year’s Sovereign Award-winning owner Live Oak Plantation. “I had the confidence with this horse,” Husbands said. “When he leaves there, whatever he wants to do, I just leave him alone. It worked out that way today.” Not So Quiet finished 1 1/2 lengths back of the winner in third. He was followed by Cash Dividend, Embolden, and Green Light Go. :: DRF Bets players get free Daily Racing Form Past Performances and up to 5% weekly cashback. Click to learn more.
