Souper Hoity Toity rallies in deep stretch to take Ontario Damsel

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Heavily favored Souper Hoity Toity got the job done in workmanlike fashion in Sunday’s $127,250 Ontario Damsel Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine.
Souper Hoity Toity raced at the rear of the five-horse field on the backstretch in the 1 1/16-mile route, as Crystal Ships set quick fractions on a clear lead with Love to Run racing in second.
Souper Hoity Toity commenced a wide rally while hard ridden on the far turn. She wore the leaders down in deep stretch to prevail by a half-length over her Mark Casse-trained stablemate, 11-1 shot Love to Run, winning in a final time of 1:43.44.
Crystal Ships weakened to third and was followed by Sister Seagull and a staggering Lady Brew.

Patrick Husbands rode Souper Hoity Toity and was also aboard for her two Grade 3 stakes scores earlier in the meet, along with a troubled second in the Oct. 1 Duchess Stakes.
“I was getting a perfect trip,” Husbands said. “Around the five-eighths pole, I was starting to get a little pressure on the outside. I put her in the clear by the three-eighths pole, and she flattened right out on me. But she’s all class and she (fought hard) just to win.”
A daughter of Uncle Mo, Souper Hoity Toity ($2.70) collected $75,000 for Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Plantation.
