Souper Charlotte tops Casse exacta in Glorious Song Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Souper Charlotte gave trainer Mark Casse a record eighth win in the $101,200 Glorious Song Stakes when she caught Si Si Tequila late in the seven-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies at Woodbine.
Souper Charlotte ($3.40) stalked along the inside about two lengths back in fourth as Devious Charm set slow fractions, with Si Si Tequila and Above All Names racing in close proximity. Si Si Tequila took control in the stretch, with Above All Names breathing down her neck, but Souper Charlotte came widest after finding a path to win by a neck in 1:23.60.
Si Si Tequila finished second to give Casse a sweep of the exacta. Above All Names, Dancing Doll, and Devious Charm completed the order of finish.
Souper Charlotte is unbeaten in two starts, both under Eurico Da Silva.
“I had a lot of horse,” said Da Silva, who was winning his first Glorious Song. “It took a little longer than I wanted for me to get out, but I got lucky. When I needed her, she was there. She’s a very nice horse. She’s a very professional filly.”
By Warrior’s Reward, Souper Charlotte banked $60,000 for Live Oak Plantation, which won two races at Woodbine yesterday.
