Solid start at stud for Leinster

Leinster has gotten off to a strong start at stud, with representation at the renowned Royal Ascot meeting helping him atop the freshman sire list and his profile continuing to deliver a strong return on investment in the sales ring.

Leinster raced for Amy Dunne, Brenda Miley, Westrock Stables, and Jean Wilkinson. He won four career graded stakes sprinting on the turf: the Grade 3 Troy at Saratoga, the Grade 2 Shakertown and Grade 2 Woodford at Keeneland, and the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint. He was also third in the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, beaten just a length. In the Shakertown, he sizzled the 5 1/2 furlongs on turf in a course-record 1:00.86 that still stands.

Leinster, by Majestic Warrior, now stands at Joe and Helen Barbazon’s Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Florida. They bred Lennilu, who races for a partnership that includes Dunne. After winning her first two starts, including the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies, she was a creditable third in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.

Leinster is the sire of two other winners, including Squire, second in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies. Through June 19, Leinster leads his freshman class in winners and earnings.

Leinster was represented by a dozen juveniles sold at public auction this year for an average of $117,083 – more than 23 times their conception stud fee of $5,000. Those were led by a $400,000 colt at OBS March and a $220,000 filly this week at OBS June.
