Solid Friday card on tap at Gulfstream

Two open allowances with $47,000 purses will be among the Gulfstream offerings Friday when a 10-race card gets under way at 12:35 p.m. Eastern.
Race 7 marks the return of Nonna Madeline from a layoff of more than 14 months. The 3-year-old daughter of Candy Ride participated in a series of graded stakes in New York last year at 2 and has been working steadily for Todd Pletcher since late October when preparing to clash with five other fillies at seven furlongs.
Race 9 figures to have the Chad Brown-trained Toledo favored over Churn N Burn and six other 2-year-olds in a one-mile race liable to produce a contender or two for the local series of preps toward the 2020 Kentucky Derby.
Both allowances are part of a Rainbow 6 sequence that spans races 5 to 10. The carryover jackpot stood at $543,690 when a five-day week began Wednesday.
◗ Multi-millionaire sprinters Imperial Hint and X Y Jet are among the older horses expected for the lone stakes at Gulfstream this weekend, the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector on Saturday. Diamond Oops and Zenden also were expected in a short field for the seven-furlong race.
The two following Saturdays at Gulfstream will be busy ones. Six stakes, all on turf, are on tap for Dec. 28, and five stakes, all for 3-year-olds, will be run Jan. 4.
