Softer spot for Baltimore Bob at Laurel

Baltimore Bob, 2 for 2 over Laurel Park's turf course early in his career, drops out of graded stakes company to face Maryland-bred 3-year-olds in the $50,000 Humphrey S. Finney Stakes at 1 1/8 miles.

Most recently, Baltimore Bob was used up in a speed duel in the Gradeo2 Virginia Derby and faded to sixth of 10 over soft ground in the Grade 3 Colonial Turf Cup.

"That was two hard efforts back to back, but I think he'll run a good race on Saturday," said trainer Carlos Garcia.

The main threats to Baltimore Bob are Knight in Armour, who finished a good second at 32-1 in an overnight stakes at Delaware Park two races ago, and Benny Havens, who makes his first start on grass after romping in an off-the-turf route against maidens for high-percentage trainer Graham Motion.
