Sobradora Inc to wait for Rodeo Drive

DEL MAR, Calif. – The older female grass division on this circuit has produced many stakes winners and no clear-cut leader for the better part of two years now, so it will be interesting to see if Sobradora Inc can assume that mantle. Considering the way she won the Osunitas Stakes on Sunday, plus her obvious upside, she’s got a chance.
Sobradora Inc flew from last to first to win the Osunitas in her North American debut, giving her a perfect 5 for 5 record. Having been born on South American time, she actually just turned 4, which makes her a good six months younger than Northern Hemisphere-born 4-year-olds.
Sobradora Inc won a pair of Group 1 races in her native Argentina, and she’ll get a chance to win a Grade 1 race in this country in her next start. Trainer Simon Callaghan said the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive at Santa Anita’s fall meeting would be next.
“I don’t think she’s a filly you want to rush back too quick,” he said of his reason for not giving her another start here this summer.
◗ Jockey Alex Solis was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip in a race last Friday.
