Smooth Roller resumes training

ARCADIA, Calif.- Smooth Roller, a Grade 1 stakes winner last fall who missed the Breeders’ Cup Classic last October because of a tendon injury, has returned to the racetrack, trainer Victor Garcia said on Sunday.
Smooth Roller jogged on the main track on Sunday.
“This is his second day to the track,” Garcia said. “So far, he looks good. Fingers crossed.”
Owned by Lucky Charm Stable, Smooth Roller has won 3 of 4 starts and earned $261,810. A 5-year-old gelding by Hard Spun, Smooth Roller won the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes here last September in his graded stakes debut. He was in training for the BC Classic at Keeneland last October when the injury was detected.
Garcia said the break helped Smooth Roller’s condition.
“Time is the best medicine,” he said.
