Small City Girl back at track she relishes for Sunday's feature
Small City Girl returns to Oaklawn for Sunday’s eighth race, an optional $15,000 claiming sprint for fillies and mares that carries first-level allowance conditions. She ran well over the track a year ago, finishing in the money in two of three starts.
Small City Girl is part of a competitive eight-horse field and could get a stalking trip behind such rivals as Dreamin, Arch Arch Baby, and Eurodevilwoman.
Arch Arch Baby won her maiden at Oaklawn in 2016. She is by Arkansas Derby winner Archarcharch and out of the mare Charming Ruckus, who was a stakes winner and earner of nearly $300,000. Eurodevilwoman was entered in the $125,000 American Beauty Stakes that was to be run Saturday at Oaklawn.
◗ Owner Danny Caldwell, trainer Federico Villafraco, and jockey Ramon Vazquez combined to win three of the nine races on the card Thursday at Oaklawn.
