Slight nod to Fearless Dragon in Sunday's allowance feature
Sunday’s $48,000 allowance feature at Gulfstream Park drew a full and well-matched field of 12 older horses to go a mile, with the stakes-placed Fearless Dragon likely to go off a tepid choice for trainer Eric Guillot.
Fearless Dragon is coming off a third-place finish behind 1-2 favorite Zulu in the restricted Tamarac Stakes going seven furlongs in his 2016 finale. He earned the highest last-race Beyer Speed Figure, an 85, in the field for Sunday’s headliner.
Other contenders include River Dell, who returns to the main track off a disappointing turf debut last month in New York; Kelly Tough; Direct Message; recent maiden winners Fast Friar and Heckufashot; and Frammento, the third-place finisher here in the 2015 Fountain of Youth. Frammento will put blinkers back on for the third start of his form cycle after having been idle 14 months following his sixth-place finish in the 2015 Travers.
