Slay the Day retired

The 3-year-old filly Slay the Day has been retired following her win in the Grade 3 Soaring Softly Stakes at Saratoga on June 7.
Trainer Brian Lynch said on Thursday that Slay the Day was diagnosed with a “soft tissue” injury after the Soaring Softly, her fourth win in seven starts.
“She went out a winner,” Lynch said. “She was very talented. It was unfortunate. She’ll have a nice, sound broodmare career.”
Lynch said that Slay the Day, who earned $505,238 in her career, has been moved to a farm in Lexington, Ky.
Owned by the Flying Dutchmen Stables, Slay the Day started in three Grade 3 stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf in the spring. She won the $350,000 Limestone Stakes at Keeneland on April 10, finished second in the $300,000 Mamzelle Stakes at Churchill Downs on April 30, and won by 2 3/4 lengths in the $200,000 Soaring Softly Stakes as the 3-5 favorite.
