Slammed overwhelms Tight Fittin Jeans in La Coneja

Slammed launched her 4-year-old season Sunday by winning the fifth stakes race of her career in the $100,000 La Coneja at Sunland Park. She proved 1 1/2 lengths best over Tight Fittin Jeans, while it was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Proofsinthepuddin.
The La Coneja was a six-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in New Mexico.
Slammed ($3) sat just off the early pace in fourth Sunday, as Tight Fittin Jeans ran an opening quarter in a pressured 21.93 seconds. Slammed moved to challenge the leader through a half-mile in 43.99 and worked her way past that one in the stretch to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:08.54.
Alfredo Juarez Jr. was aboard for trainer Todd Fincher.
Fincher also co-bred and co-owns the filly with Brad King. The ownership has an additional partner in Suzanne Kirby.
Slammed is a daughter of Marking. She has now won 7 of 9 starts for earnings of $297,605.
