Slack Tide impresses with Seattle triumph
Slack Tide paid $3.80 for her impressive win in the $50,000 Seattle at Emerald Downs on Sunday.
With Evin Roman aboard, she broke alertly in the six-furlong dash for 3-year-old fillies, and dueled with Koron and Unsolved Mystery through a half-mile in 44.50 seconds before edging clear turning for home.
Roman appeared to have more horse to call on if needed when Slack Tide drew off to win decisively over Ropers N Wranglers, who split rivals while rallying late. The final margin was four lengths. It was another three quarters of a length back to Unsolved Mystery, who edged Koron by a nose for third.
The final time was 1:09.39 for the six-furlong race.
Slack Tide won the $50,000 Angie C in her final start as a 2-year-old at Emerald last year and was coming off a victory in a first-level allowance race with a $50,000 claiming option at Golden Gate Fields on April 22 for trainer Blaine Wright.
“After her last race Evin said he would go anywhere to ride her,” Wright said. “Hopefully he will come back to ride her here in her next start.”
“She went strong when I asked her,” Roman said.
