SL Green Realty, Caesars partner to pursue Manhattan casino
A real-estate company headed by the chairman of the New York Racing Association will partner with Caesars Entertainment to pursue a casino license in Midtown Manhattan, the two companies announced Thursday.
SL Green Realty Corp., whose chief executive, Marc Holliday, has been the chairman of NYRA’s board since 2021, said it would pursue the license for an address in Times Square, one of the most tourist-heavy locations in Manhattan. The casino would be operated by Caesars, which also is a partner with NYRA in a sports-betting app.
New York lawmakers approved a budget allowing for three new casinos in the New York City area earlier this year. The bidding process is expected to attract a number of big players in the casino market, including Genting New York, which operates a casino at NYRA’s Aqueduct racetrack.
The new casinos would be allowed to offer table games as well as slot machines. Genting’s casino at Aqueduct is limited to video-lottery terminals, which operate like slot machines, and electronic table games. A cut of the revenue from the casino goes to NYRA and its horsemen.
