Sky Treasure uses powerful late charge to win Nassau

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Sky Treasure buried a quality group of fillies and mares while notching her first stakes win Saturday at Woodbine in the Grade 2, $211,200 Nassau.
Sky Treasure was reserved at the rear of the 12-horse field through the turn in the one-mile turf route. Gary Boulanger angled her wide early in the stretch, and she proceeded to rally powerfully and win by a length over Deceptive Vision, who edged out Overheard for second. Stellar Path, the 5-2 favorite from New York, flattened out to finish fourth after pressing a lively pace.
Sky Treasure paid $40.10 to win.
“She’s always been a really nice filly, closing,” said Boulanger. “I always thought a lot of her, and didn’t get to ride her a whole bunch. She has a big move if you ride her right. I got a perfect trip through the turn, and I really hadn’t asked much of her. I split horses, got outside of (Deceptive Vision), and she gave me a gear and spurted right by her. It worked out great for us today.”
The Mark Casse-trained Sky Treasure covered the distance in 1:33.54 and banked $120,000 for owner John Oxley.
