Skol Factor could go two turns after sprint romp

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Trainer Mac Robertson has rolled out a number of impressive 3-year-old winners this meet, with the latest Skol Factor on the Oaklawn Stakes undercard April 11.
Skol Factor won a maiden special weight over six furlongs in 1:09.76. He led throughout for a 6 1/2-length win and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 82.
“He’s a fast horse,” Robertson said Tuesday. “He did it easy the other day.”
Robertson said if Skol Factor were to run back this meet it would be during the last couple of days. The season closes May 2.
Skol Factor, by The Factor, was making his second start after running second in a key maiden sprint here Feb. 15. The winner, Pneumatic, and third-place finisher, Liam’s Pride, both won in their next start.
Skol Factor could develop into a candidate for two-turn races, Robertson said.

“He’s never backed up when he’s worked, and he’s always galloping out a long ways,” he said. “I think he’ll run two turns. If he doesn’t, he’s really fast.”
Robertson added that Skol Factor’s dam, Kaiserin, is by stamina source Tiznow.
Other top 3-year-olds for the barn include the fillies Ring Leader, winner of the $125,000 Dixie Belle in February at Oaklawn, and Piece of My Heart, an allowance route winner with a Beyer Figure of 85 on April 10.
Robertson said both fillies are under consideration for the Grade 3, $400,000 Fantasy here May 1.
Robertson’s group of older horses includes multiple stakes winner Amy’s Challenge, who is being pointed to the $125,000 Carousel on Saturday, April 25; Hotshot Anna, a multiple Grade 2 winner also under consideration for that race; and Hot Shot Kid, winner of five stakes last year at Canterbury who is nearing a start at Oaklawn.
